When my wife and I go walkies with our dog in downtown Midland, it is always a newsy event. We marvel at the number of people who take advantage of our public library. There always seems to be a steady flow of those returning books and fetching other. And this bodes well for the popular public facility. We always visit with friends we know coming out of stores or heading to their parked cars. We love looking in shop windows, admire displays that often change every few weeks. There is an air of freshness thanks to a cool breeze working its way north from the docks and wharf. Benches for sitting are well spaced and almost all in use when we go downtown.
Too many Midlanders very seldom get out of their cars and just enjoy a bit of window shopping. Try it, we know you will love it. My wife was born and raised in Holland during WWII but it was only recently we truly enjoyed our first ever Amsterdam canal cruise. And so it is with King Street, make a point in the next week or so to stroll from the dock all the way south to Yonge Street, then head back to your parked car on the other side of the street. Maybe stop in for a slice pizza or an ice cream cone along the way.
