For some 110 years, the life blood of GBGH and other Midland hospitals before has been volunteers. Volunteers can drop by and pick up a free drink at the main floor cafe as the hospital salutes the men and women for a job well done.
Without volunteers, life doesn’t run as smoothly as patients would like and benefit from. Doctors, nurses and other staff are up to their stethoscopes, bed pans, charts and brooms with little time to take five. And here’s where volunteers fill the gap, so hospitals, ours included, can run as smoothly as possible.
Growing up across the street from Woodstock General Hospital, mom once a week happily worked in WGH’s gift shop, loving every minute of it. She volunteered for decades. The lady in my life has been working a once a week shift at GBGH and having a ball. Long before we met she worked the coffee cafe. So hats off to all hospital volunteers, here in town and elsewhere. Your work often is unheralded and very seldom makes front page news, but please be assured, you are all dedicated wonderful people and we are proud of you all. Now where is the imaging department?
