Butter tart festival? Check. Ribfest, probably not. Outdoor movies downtown? looking good. Preparing to welcome passenger ships to Midland, hopefully folks are working on it.
Promoting the fact that North America’s first ever Christmas Carol was penned by Fr. Jean de Brebeuf at St. Marie among the Hurons in 1643, could be promoted much better and the same that Pope John Paul II visited the Shrine and Fort, Sept. 15, 1984 and since then the Vatican has made him a saint.
Midland/Huronia has lots to promote to attract visitors…not only day trippers but folks happy to stay a few extra days to discover what we often take for granted. We can no longer hide our candle under a bushel…..we need to sell North Simcoe like never before.
One only needs to go on a Rhine River cruise like the one my wife and I enjoyed recently to appreciate how European hamlets, villages, towns and cities promote their assets and beloved history. We can do the same here folks in the Heart of Huronia at the Gateway to the 30,000 Islands. I’d be more than happy to pitch in.
