Newly minted Ontario PC Party leader Patrick Brown is in the midst of his 15th trip to northern Ontario in the past 14 months. Brown has the energy of a teenager… up early, jogs, works for Simcoe North constituents then off to Queen’s Park for question period, meetings with delegates and staff, more meetings, including events not always pencilled in and, when possible, a bit of shinny once or twice in any seven days.
What this writer admires is Brown’s zeal, criss-crossing the province, listening – yes listening: listening to man, woman and child – seeking input, garnering advice – while the Premier this week was buying the first six-pack of beer from a non Beer Store outlet, Brown was attending dozens and dozens of meetings day after day from North Bay to Elliott Lake, Wawa to Sudbury and beyond. During his run in the Spring for party leader Brown travelled from Cornwall to Kenora from Windsor to Wawa, most admirable. Ah… the energy of today’s “young people.” Certainly the envy of this old geezer.
