One of the best reasons OurMidland.ca has become so successful since it was launched last Fall is its unique character. The local internet news service is about people, those who created and got the service off the ground and have kept it fresh and alive and those incidents and people it features. Fair, honest, objective mixed with fact-based opinion, Our Midland.ca covers a cross-section of community life in North Simcoe.
Much of our news is contributed by members of the community, letters to the editor and tips that must be followed-up before publishing. We publish links to support any opinion editorials and allow our readers to get other perspectives – allowing them to form their own conclusions on matters that may not have otherwise been brought to their attention.
Willing to praise positive causes and throw up road blocks when things smell a bit odd, Our Midland.ca is by and for people like you. Our volunteers care about life in cottage country. They pay taxes, many of their children attend schools here, and founders both work and shop here. An Internet local news service, publishing stories often seven days a week, is able to feature up to date news literally on the spot vs readers waiting once a week for local newspaper stories to arrive at one’s doorstep. Don’t get us wrong, a community is best served by far by more than one news source to keep everyone honest. And so as readership increases we at Our Midland.ca are indebted to all of you for counting on us for current news and happenings here in Huronia.
