In Europe no matter where one visits in a square or downtown core, one will come across many outdoor cafes. More outdoor type cafes have been popping up in Midland. This morning we had a late breakfast with friends at the Lady Bug. The food was great, the service wonderful. You will find the same at Dino’s, Grounded, Ciboulette et Cie and elsewhere along King Street. Outdoor cafes are perfect for people watching, great food and fresh air. What a great combination.
In Streetsville an entire block is closed to vehicular traffic and this is where hundreds visit day long and well into the evening. When required portable gas heaters are fired up after dusk to add some warmth to the area. As more businesses in town opt for more sit-eat-watch outlets, King Street will add yet another attraction to town. Maybe a couple of stores could get together to offer, seating, benches, ice cream and drink stands, live music and other kinds of entertainment including buskers.
In any event Midland is off to a great start. By the way St. Paul’s United Church, every Wednesday evening stages meals on church lawn and in grand hall. The meals are sumptuous….just $15 for adults and much, much less for children. It’s one more way for the congregation to get involved in the life and times of those who frequent downtown Midland. Kudos to one and all.
