Teen Town idol Bobby Curtola has died in his 74th year. The Thunder Bay pop idol fiancé’s death in a car crash earlier this year’s just weeks before they were to be married, was a shocker as well.  Curtola, a member of the Order of Canada, recorded his first best seller when he was just 16 years old. We became close  friends after an interview with him at CKOX in Woodstock in ’58.  He later attended a variety of teen towns I hosted in Woodstock (mom always made him cookies) and in Midland during the old CKMP Radio days.

In the days and weeks to come, his fans will tell stories of their chance meetings with him at dances and charity events. The former long time Vegas fixture will be missed. His concerts were always memorable, his music, memory making and his love for his fans genuine and honest. Canada’s loss is paradise’s gain. Canucks can count on one hand, five of the nation’s top enthusiastic, generous, kind and contagious performers. Bobby Cartola was one of them. God speed old friend, we will cherish your memory in our hearts.
