The other day at VON exercise class, a woman asked me, “Are you going to veterans’ dinner” since you must have served during the war?” Was I showing my age, I wondered. I missed the Korean conflict by a year or three, although our high school cadets were affiliated with Oxford Rifles Militia associated with 3rd Battalion RCR.
The dear soul got me thinking: I am becoming more like my father? I listen to New Classical Radio out of Collingwood although I worked in radio when rock and roll music first appeared. I have lawn bowled and shuffle boarded and can’t wait for local paper to arrive to check out the obits…….which reminds me the day CKMP’s Tommy Shields, announced, “Sorry nobody died today,” as the theme to Today’s Obituaries ended.
It took about 20 years for that gem to appear in Readers Digest. They say, age is just a number……wish those folks would join us at the Rec Centre….then talk about numbers sans pain!
