Spotted a trio of robins yesterday when we were out on walkies. Made a wish as one does when he sees or eats something for the first time in a new year. From new corn, strawberries, robins, first swim at Allenwood Beach, the wishes are something we celebrated while growing up in Oxford County as a kid living on a Woodstock area farm off and on during WWII.
Some firsts that have been memorable, in 1984 learning I had a brother and also shaking hands with the late Pope John Paul II at Martyrs’ Shrine. I remember the first time I went on the air at CKMP, the first record I played in 1957 and first commercial I read; it had something to do with electric clothes dryers. One remembers the first he saw his family’s cottage at Allenwood Beach……memories abound with a host of firsts, joining Signa Dogo Nu Fraternity, the Masonic Lodge and later Shriners. Singing in church choir, serving communion, hosting Teen Town, visiting Spain, China and later Holland, were all firsts one can assure you. We are certain you too can add a long list of firsts in your lives too….we’d enjoy reading them….please send us your letters to Our Midland.ca
