Shared: A tearful day in court for Wyevale family

It was a tearful day in court June 14 during a sentencing hearing as family members shared their grief over the death of a Wyevale man who was killed in a parking lot “road rage” incident.

Jason Heffernan, 25, of London, originally charged with murder, pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing the death of Corby Stott, 29.

Stott was killed when he was thrown from the hood of Heffernan’s vehicle after he stood in front of it in an attempt to block it and redirect traffic at the Midland Walmart parking lot on a long weekend in July 2016.

Court heard drivers were trapped in the overcrowded parking lot for up to 45 minutes during a heat wave, and frustration soared.
