Shared: Affordable housing on track for 2018 in Simcoe County

Going into 2018, the county has roughly 300 all-new units in various stages of construction.

There are projects in Alliston, Barrie, Innisfil, Wyevale, Collingwood and Wasaga Beach.

“Two supportive housing projects are in the very preliminary stages in Barrie and Orillia,” Zwiers said.

The Simcoe County Housing Development Corporation has two projects underway in Collingwood and Wasaga.

“The Collingwood project is constructed on a piece of land that used to contain social housing townhouses,” Zwiers said.

The Collingwood project will create 147 units, 30 of which will replace older social housing.

A portion of the land is donated by the Town of Collingwood.
