Shared: Alert issued for potential heavy snowfall in Midland and Orillia areas

An alert was issued by Environment Canada at 4:24 p.m. for Midland, Coldwater, Orr Lake, Orillia, Lagoon City and Washago.

Lake-effect flurries are possible tonight, with potential heavy snow Saturday night.

Bands of lake-effect snow have developed off Georgian Bay and will meander across the areas tonight.

Snowfall amounts of five to 10 centimetres are likely in the heaviest flurries. Locally, higher amounts of 10-15 centimetres are possible in one or two localities. While snowsqualls are possible, they will be brief and on the move, and snowfall amounts are expected to remain below the warning threshold of 15 centimetres per 12 hours.
