Shared: Barrie man charged for impaired driving, trying to evade OPP

A 35-year-old Barrie man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly running away from the OPP moments after being approached by officers.

The Southern Georgian Bay OPP were on regular patrol on Talbot Street in Port McNicoll around 3:45 a.m. on July 26. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a driving violation when it suddenly pulled into a driveway. Officers stopped and spoke with the driver and immediately entered into a drinking and driving investigation. 

According to police, the man became unco-operative, broke free from the officers and fled the scene on foot. He was apprehended by officers a few minutes later.
