  1. The reason there is a speed limit on ice is so the speed of the vehicle doesn’t create the water wave under the ice which then in turn cracks the ice plunging people through it. So yes there is a speed limit on ice roads and it is 40km/h and it is there for a reason. Hasn’t anybody been on ice roads before?

  2. He was driving a vehicle, not a recreational vehicle, so I’m guessing he would still have to follow rules of the road, he made the ice a road by driving on it, the speed limit would be set by the road he left while entering the ice..

  3. Not saying that this guy wasn’t being stupid, but living near and using the ice all my life, I have never seen a speed limit sign out there, or have been informed of a speed limit out on the ice.

  4. I seen this guy fly by my place the other morning,he was moving pretty good. ( Hoggs bay)
I was wondering where he was going in such a hurry… maybe he was late for work.
