Shared: Health unit warns it is peak flu season in Simcoe County

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reminding residents of the steps they can take to stay healthy during peak flu time.

The health unit’s officer of health, Dr. Charles Gardner, has issued a declaration of widespread influenza activity in the region.

“We are at or near the peak of influenza activity in our region, which can last for two to four weeks,” read a release.

The heath unit says the residents should be extra vigilant to protect themselves from the flu.

In addition to getting your flu vaccination, you should practise frequent hand washing, staying home and avoiding contact with other people when ill, and practising good sleep and nutrition habits.
