“There are lots of cool alternatives for your backyard; you can put them on a non-combustible surface and you’re golden,” Weber said.
Lawn-watering restrictions are also in place across the city. Property owners or tenants with odd-numbered addresses can water on odd-numbered calendar days; even-numbered addresses get to turn on the hoses on even days. Watering is permitted between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m.
Failure to comply with the water bylaw can lead to a fine of $150.
“Bylaw officers always ask for compliance first,” city spokesperson Scott LaMantia said. “They will issue a warning and take time to educate the resident on the bylaw.”
