The governments of Canada and Ontario will provide funding for transitional housing and rent assistance for survivors of human trafficking in Simcoe County.
This investment comes from a $7-million commitment to help survivors throughout the province.
The funding will ensure survivors have a safe place to live while they access support and services to rebuild their lives.
“These investments demonstrate our government’s commitment toward ensuring that survivors of human trafficking are able to enjoy a safe and stable environment,” Jean-Yves Duclos, Canada’s minister of families, children and social development and minister responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, said in a release.
