In light of the recent fires and related fatalities/injuries so far this year, the Midland Fire Department would like to remind everyone that many fires and deaths can be prevented by having a plan.
– Make sure you have a working smoke alarm on every level of your home and outside all sleeping areas.
– Test your smoke alarms monthly. Make sure everyone recognizes the sound of the alarm.
– Replace your smoke alarms as per the manufacturers recommendations. (Usually every 10 years)
– Develop and practice a home fire escape plan.
Be safe and don’t wait…every second counts!
