Shared: Long-term-care funding increases, but still has long way to go in Simcoe County

Long-term-care facilities received a two per cent increase in per diem funding from the province over the past year.

“Certainly any increase in funding for long-term-care homes is absolutely good news,” Jane Sinclair, general manager of health and emergency services for Simcoe County, said. “However, the issue with our long-term-care funding is we’re constantly looking at a shortfall.”

Sinclair said it’s an issue the county has been raising for a number of years, and that the county supplements provincial funding to ensure the appropriate level of service for long-term-care residents.

“The province is supposed to be funding 100 per cent of our long-term-care homes,” Sinclair said.
