Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers were kept busy patrolling area highways for drunk drivers over the civic holiday weekend. Four drivers were issued a variety of charges after being caught driving impaired.
Police were called to Penetanguishene just before 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 3 after a driver crashed into a pole and fled the scene. Officers were able to locate the driver due to a description provided by 911 callers. A vehicle that had sustained significant damage was located on a nearby street.
As a result, 53-year-old Thomas Mace of Mississauga was charged with driving while ability impaired, care or control with over 80 mg of alcohol in his blood, failure to remain at the scene of a crash, consuming liquor outside a licensed premises, residence or private…
