Shared: Mayoral candidates in Midland, Penetanguishene weigh in on impending marijuana legalization
Mayoral candidates in Midland and Penetanguishene have varying opinions when it comes to whether or not recreational cannabis stores should be allowed in their communities.
Penetanguishene’s Doug Leroux is adamantly opposed, while candidates in Midland either don’t have a problem with the suggestion or are still on the fence about it.
“I can’t say either way, yes or no. I need more information,” said Jack Contin, one of three Midland mayoral candidates. “We won’t know anything until the guidelines come down from the province.”
While details around exactly how the sale of recreational cannabis in Ontario will work remains unclear, the province did release some framework in mid-August.
