The Town of Midland is going to bring various agencies to the table to start discussing possible solutions to the downtown safety concerns brought to light by the Midland Public Library.
Security guards have been hired for the building, located at the corner of King and Elizabeth streets, as it has been the site of violence, drugs and prostitution. Staff have received threats of physical violence and been subject to verbal harassment and stalking.
Council committee approved the creation of a task force, to be headed by Mayor Gord McKay, to dig into the issues in the downtown and develop a community safety plan.
