Shared: Midland to install sidewalk along Dominion Avenue

Council narrowly passed a motion to install a sidewalk along Dominion Avenue from Margaret Street to Penetanguishene Road.

“That is a heavily trafficked area. This needs to be done,” said Coun. George MacDonald, who put forth the motion to include the sidewalk project in the 2018 budget.

“There are good ideas and bad ideas. This is a good idea,” added MacDonald.

The stretch of sidewalk is estimated to cost around $140,000.

“It was one of the areas that was identified in the traffic master plan five years ago,” said Shawn Berriault, director of public works, noting that the cost would be over and above what was in the budget at the time.
