Penetanguishene residents around the Main Street and Robert Street intersection could be displaced until around 9 p.m. after an gas main break force an evacuation of the downtown.
Main Street reconstruction crews struck a natural gas main shortly after 11 a.m. on July 17 at the Robert Street intersection.
The Penetanguishene Fire Department and emergency services have blocked off a one-block radius while Enbridge crews work to repair the pipe.
Enbridge expects the repairs to take until around 9 p.m.
