Shared: OPP arrest Tay Township suspect driving erratically on Sturgeon Bay

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP were dispatched to the Caswells Beach area in Tay Township, after reports of a vehicle being driven erratically on the ice of Sturgeon Bay.

Attending officers were assisted on the call March 22, by members of the OPP Emergency Response Unit (ERT), Simcoe County Paramedic Services, Tay Township Fire Service, and a Canadian Forces Search and Rescue Helicopter who set up and observed the grey Jeep Liberty travel at high speed from the Hog Bay area over to Caswells Beach, and onward and back to Waubaushene.

The Jeep later became disabled on the ice surface in front of Caswells Beach and officers were able to arrest the lone male driver and take him into police custody without incident.
