Shared: Parts of Simcoe County expecting a frosty night

Environment Canada has put parts of Simcoe County under an extreme cold warning.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.

Extreme wind chill values near or below minus 30 are expected overnight and early Sunday morning.

Areas under the advisory are Midland, Coldwater, Orr Lake, Orillia, Lagoon City, Washago, Innisfil, Angus, New Tecumseth and Mansfield.

A period of very cold wind chills is expected.


Environment Canada asks residents to watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
