Shared: Penetanguishene council to oversee Main Street reconstruction; task force deemed unnecessary
The Penetanguishene Business Association’s request for a special task force to oversee the Main Street reconstruction project has been shot down.
Council also dismissed the Main Street reconstruction steering committee recommended by town staff, feeling it would be redundant.
“Being as it is the largest construction project and of the highest profile that we have done in many years, and it will have significant impact on the public and business owners, we thought it prudent to create a steering committee to act as a conduit for questions and concerns that are brought up during the project,” said Bryan Murray, director of public works.
