Observant Penetanguishene residents helped the OPP catch someone tagging public property with spray paint on Saturday evening.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers responded to a report of a person defacing a Town of Penetanguishene building with spray paint on Peel Street early in the evening on Dec. 9. Responding officers attended and located a male who was identified by some citizens who witnessed the act.

Tyler Franz, a 25-year-old from Penetanguishene, was arrested at the scene and transported back to detachment for further investigation. He now faces ten counts of mischief under $5,000 and obstructing a peace officer.

Franz was released from police custody on a recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Midland court on Jan. 4.
