Shared: Penetanguishene sewage treatment plant unveiled after $28.2 million in upgrades
Massive upgrades to the Penetanguishene sewage treatment plant, totalling over $28 million, have finally been completed.
The updated Philip H. Jones Pollution Control Plant was unveiled to municipal councillors on Dec. 21 after years of work.
“The completion of the upgrades marks a new era of development and environmental sustainability within the Town of Penetanguishene that will benefit residents for many generations to come,” said Mayor Gerry Marshall.
Initial discussions around the project began in 2006. After a few years of discussions and intense planning, construction on the upgrades commenced in 2011.
