Shared: Provincial data shows Midland emergency department providing above-average patient care

Georgian Bay General Hospital is seeing the lowest number of return visits of any hospital in the region.

GBGH measures many aspects of their operations to see how their care stacks up against other hospitals in the region and across the province. By comparing performance, the hospital has a benchmark to know what they are doing well and what they can improve.

In 2015, Ontario introduced the emergency department return visit program to track patients returning to emergency departments. The program looks at patients who returned within 72 hours of discharge and required readmission and patients who returned within seven days of discharge from an initial nonadmitted emergency department visit with a sentinel diagnosis.
