Shared: Simcoe County District School Board releases 2017-18 enrolment numbers

There are more than 50,000 students at the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB), and now, thanks to new numbers, we know exactly how many enrolled for the 2017-2018 school year.

Enrolment numbers are submitted to the Ministry of Education three times a year, on defined dates. A report from the SCDSB shows the most up-to-date enrolment numbers, as of Oct. 31, 2017.

According to the most recent count, there are 36,469 elementary students at 86 elementary schools across the SCDSB. Enrolment has increased almost five per cent since 2013, when there were 34,821 students enrolled in elementary schools.

At the high school level, 15,314 students were counted at 15 secondary schools. That is about 7.5 per cent less than in 2013, when there were 16,545…
