The top administrator at Simcoe County’s public school board has written a letter to teachers to clarify what they’re expected to teach when it comes to health and physical education.

In the Aug. 30 letter, Steve Blake, director of education at the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB), detailed this summer’s developments around the health and physical education curriculum, often called the sex-ed curriculum.

Blake references the letter he and chair of the board of trustees, Peter Beacock, issued earlier in the summer saying they would respect teacher’s discretion when it came to the curriculum, which came before the ministry provided direction to school boards.
