Simcoe County’s public and catholic school boards are delaying a decision on increasing education development charges until sometime in the fall.
“Trustees from both boards have asked staff to go back and look at some other options that might be viable,” said Brian Jeffs, superintendent of business and facility services at the Simcoe County District School Board.
The boards collect the charges from new developments in the county to fund the purchase of new school sites.
A June 5 meeting at the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board office was scheduled as a decision meeting for the new-development charges bylaw, but the boards are now using it as another public input meeting.
