Some Midland taxpayers will see a 1.2 per cent decrease in property taxes this year.
Council approved the 2018 tax rate bylaw on May 28, which included a slight increase in the town portion and decreases in the county and education portions of the tax levy.
“Budget deliberations saw the town tax levy portion come in under the guideline recommended by council to administration. That effort, combined with tax policy changes made by other levels of government, will allow some taxpayers in the town of Midland to experience a reduction in taxes,” said treasurer Susan Turnbull.
