The Southern Georgian Bay marine patrol unit assisted the Canadian Coast Guard in searching for an overdue vessel caught out in the high winds and heavy rain on July 5.

Two OPP patrol boats and two Canadian Coast Guard units were dispatched at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday to search for a sailboat that had left Port McNicoll earlier in the day and had yet to return. The rescue boats searched from Port McNicoll to Midland Point, and over to Beausoleil Island before finding the sailboat and its lone crew member safe and secure in Oak Bay at around 11:15 p.m.
