Jumpstart divided the country into 300 chapters, one of which is Barrie-Simcoe County. Since inception, the Barrie and Simcoe County chapter has disbursed $2.5 million to help more than 42,000 local kids participate in sport, recreation and play.
Funds are allocated to local chapters based on need and are topped up by customer donations. “A 100 per cent of which stay in the community in which the donation is made,” said Di Buono.
In Simcoe County in 2017, $344,761 was disbursed to 23,212 children. This year, the chapter has disbursed $140,000 to 5,200 children so far.
