The Southern Georgian Bay OPP marine unit logged over 30 hours of patrol on Georgian Bay during the Labour Day holiday weekend, checking 70 vessels and issuing three licence suspensions.
Officers checked a variety of vessels looking for required safety equipment and operator sobriety while on patrol. Three vessels were stopped for equipment and operations related offences and three operators were handed three-day licence suspensions. The operators were asked to provide a breath sample and all registered in the warning range, which resulted in the suspensions.
Two of these operators were also cited for liquor offences, while the third was ticketed for a vessel registration offence.
