Shared: Want to run in the 2018 Midland election? Council is urging you to consider it
With another municipal election on the horizon, Midland politicians are urging residents to seriously consider who they want to run their community for the next four years.
“The (residents) have had a chance to look at council to date and see how the town is operating. I am not going to say who is right and who is wrong, but it is time to make a key decision,” said Mayor Gord McKay, who collected 45.5 per cent of the vote in 2014.
The current council has made quite a number of big decisions over the last three years. They decided to sell the Midland PUC, cut ties with the developer hired for the Midland Bay Landing site and created a municipal development corporation, and disbanded the Midland Police Service in favour of the Ontario Provincial Police.
