Shared: Waypoint in Penetanguishene to research PTSD prevention in health-care workers
Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care will be conducting research into how to better prevent post-traumatic stress disorder in mental health care providers, and ensuring those with PTSD get the swift treatment they require.
“Most people with mental disorders are not violent and live productive lives in the community. Some experience times of greater challenge and caring for them can become very stressful and at times traumatic. We don’t yet have a good awareness of how psychiatric workers experience that stress or cope with the trauma,” said Dr. Zoe Hilton, senior research scientist at Waypoint.
