“The order to supply clean, potable, drinking water had nothing to do with quality, but the fact that it wasn’t in a spillproof container,” Spottiswood said.
Spottiswood said new containers had now been installed on the dogs’ houses.
On the order to provide appropriate feed, Spottiswood said the OSPCA wanted kibble to be added to the dog’s current diet.
Dagny McKinley, an animal-rights activist who has written extensively about sled dogs, said the dogs were a healthy weight and that people are used to seeing overweight house dogs, compared to athletic animals.
For the injured dog, Koi, Spottiswood said he was already receiving veterinary care for what had previously been determined to be a superficial wound.
