Hold A Referendum On Sale of MPUC

I would hope that rather than go with the neo-liberal approach and sell our public asset (PUC), the Council would see fit to hold a referendum. This is a huge decision and may not be the most prudent. Once this is done, there is no turning back and our future generations are left with the fall out. Too often in our fair town we are seeing decisions which are not as well thought out as they might be. Examples, the Midland Bay project, the Edgehill Park issue and the four way stop on King Street. At the very least, public meetings and more consultation should be considered.

  1. I would have to agree with this. I think a public vote would be the best way to go. In my humble opinion, I don’t think it should be left to a corrupt counsel to decide the outcome of our town anymore. I’m getting a little tired of McKay’s buddies making decisions for our town. So far the recent events have shown me they are more concerned about money than they are the well being of Midland. If it’s left up to town counsel well let’s just say Midland doesn’t have a hope or a prayer. We should seriously consider a new town counsel. I’m getting a little sick of things being run without congregating with the people of Midland and just making decisions that work better for the counsel members. What works for you doesn’t work for the people. Sorry Counsel you need a wake up call and to find a new job if you want to run Midland into the ground. I want this to be the town I was once proud to live in again. But that isn’t going to happen if we let the town hit men I mean counsel members continue to do this to our town.
