We have been issued an “ORDER TO COMPLY” from the Chief Building Official in Midland to obtain a permit to demolish (tear down) the stucco on our home that is only 4 years old. We as well as our builder have had expert reports prepared to not deny but confirm that the stucco on our house is NOT a system that meets the Ontario Building Code, has no Canadian Construction Material Centre (CCMC) approval, and will in all likelihood fail. As a matter of fact we have already had water enter our home thru the stucco. In addition to the demolition we are required to have an approved system submitted to the Town and the stucco replaced. Over the coming months our home on Aberdeen will be “tented” as demolition begins and the new approved system installed.
It has been claimed that there are some 100 stucco homes, condo’s, and buildings in and around Aberdeen (Tiffin). They may have similar non complying systems on their walls that will incur an abundance of issue in respect to deterioration and up to and including health issues (Mold).
If you are concerned about issues you may have with the stucco on your home and wish to contact me, feel free.
We have already spent a great deal of money fighting this as I don’t want to have to deal with a $250,000.00 problem in the next 10 years like some others have spent as well, I prefer to feel safe in my home against possible health issue with black mold entering our home due to the failure of our stucco system.
