After in-camera meetings in August and September with both staff reports and an anticipated direct update from our conspicuously absent developer Ken Michaud, Council was to provide more transparency and update ratepayers and residents with the status of this project which from all accounts appears to be a non-starter boondoggle.
Well Council? You’ve had your meetings, you’ve had plenty of time to put some spin on this new “mistake by the lake” and yet we hear nothing. When will you share what you know about this project, what you’ve been promised both legally and anecdotally by Michaud and are you anticipating him meeting the first step in this project – remediation?
The silence is deafening and only serves to feed the rumour mill and the widely held notion that this ill-conceived partnership with Ken Michaud is so flawed that you cannot even find a way to spin it into even a semi-positive press release. Perhaps, at tonight’s Council meeting, you will see fit to address this issue publicly. Please provide us all with some assurances that this project will either move forward as stipulated by the agreement OR pledge to put it back out for tender with some better due diligence (maybe a police records check) this time.
