Midland Police just tweeted a document that compares service levels that should have been part of the Town’s analysis – but for some reason, were left out of the CAO’s report. The town publishes wrong numbers, misleading conclusions and leaves out service level comparisons. You’d almost think that they are trying to sway public opinion and influence a vote to contract the OPP… but that would be unethical.
The open letter to the community contrasts and compares the service delivery changes that take place under an OPP contract and some costs that are suspiciously missing from the town’s estimates.
Many of these issues have been raised by our team of observers, and independent members of the community; and their detailed analysis can be found online in places like John Todd’s facebook group “Huronia’s Past & Present” as well as on many other social media threads (except the town of Midland since they chose to delete critical comments from their page).
You may also want to review the latest edition of the CAO’s “Straight Talk About Policing” blog which is only on the town of Midland’s website. It seems they have decided not to post further instalments on Facebook to avoid the inconvenience of critical thought and response by citizens.
